The Florida St Seminoles from the ACC conference will do battle with the West Virginia Mountaineers in the Gator Bowl to be played on Friday January 1st. Kick off time in Jacksonville Florida is scheduled for 1PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by CBS. Jamie Parrish is the official choreographer. Xcel dancer Jessica Phoenix resumes the tour with UniverSoul Circus. She is currently rehearsing in Las Vegas. The UniverSoul Circus is a single ring circus founded and run since 1994 by Cedric Walker. It currently contains 75 primarily African-American performers and 12 acts. The circus is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.

The highest honors in the dance world, the Benois is held once a year to recognize excellence in choreography, performance, and design, in the dance profession. LONGINUS FERNANDES WINS BEST FILM CHOREOGRAPHER @ THE 2009 ASTAIRE AWARDS!!!!
Bollywood choreographer Longinus Fernandes, represented by Xcel Talent Agency, was named Best Film Choreographer by the 2009 Astaire Awards for his work in the Academy Award winning film Slumdog Millionaire.Fernandes beat out nominees Anthony Van Laast (Mamma Mia), Aakomon “AJ” Jones (Center Stage: Turn it Up), Tracy Phillips (Make It Happen), Patrick de Bana and Pedro Gomes (Fados), Todd Underwood (Were the World Mine), and Kenny Ortega (High School Musical). 

The Astaire Awards were presented at a ceremony at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York on June 1, 2009.  Fernandes was unable to attend the event.  Instead, Aris Golemi, President of Xcel Talent Agency accepted the Award on his client’s behalf, and thanked everyone who has supported Mr. Fernandes and his work. "Longinus is the most talented, balanced, joyful and rewarding person I have ever worked with, and I am honored to represent him for dance and choreography,” said Golemi during his acceptance speech.

Previous winners of awards for choreography are such legends as George Balanchine, Michael Bennett, Patricia Birch, Wayne Cilento, Graciela Daniele, Bob Fosse, Peter Martins, Ann Reinking, Jerome Robbins, Susan Stroman, and Tommy Tune.

XCEL choreographer Longinus Fernandes, who choreographed the Oscar-winning song Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire is currently choreographing in India another TV mini series. "Bollywood Hero" will premiere in August and is starring US actor Chris Kattan and former Miss India Neha Dhupia. "Kattan, who plays himself in this otherwise fictional comedy, is tired of being rejected as leading-man material in Hollywood. He burns his professional bridges in L.A. and ventures to India in search of a starring role in a Bollywood film. XCEL goes FILM with Ben 10 Alien Force!
XCEL booked dancers CJ Kendricks, Richard Wiltter, Mathew Pham, Rasheda Banks, and Abbey Moody to shoot March 16-17-18 @ Turner South. Ben 10: Alien Force the movie was announced by Cartoon Network at their 2008 upfront. It is a sequel to Ben 10: Race Against Time. A Teaser trailer was shown on October 3, 2008 during the premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The film is currently set for release in November 2009, starring Ryan Kelly and Allysa Diaz.

XCEL Talent Agency booked celebrity choreographer Laurieann Gibson to choreograph and judge for So You Think You Can Dance Poland. The episode will shoot in Lisbon Portugal February 4-7, 2009. Laurie Ann Gibson is a choreographer best known for her work on MTV’s Making the Band series. She was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and later became a “Fly Girl” on In Living Color. She choreographed the film Honey, and has worked with artists such as Diddy, JoJo, and Brandy and Day26, and Alicia Keys among others.

BET HIP-HOP HONORS!
Congrats to XCEL dancer Rachel Kingston for booking a performance with recording artist Ne-Yo. They perform tomorrow January 17, 2009 in NY at The BET Hip-Hop Honors. The event will be hosted by Gabrielle Union and they will be paying their respects to Mary J. Blige, Tyler Perry, and Judy Jamison among others. Although the show will be taped next week, it will not premiere on the television network until February 9th at 9pm.
